  • Examples in context:
    1. When police arrived, they broke down the door to Wilson's home, and found her lying on the floor inside.
    2. When my bicycle broke down she stopped to pick me up
    3. Without insulin to break down glucose, too much sugar builds up in the blood, leading to complications such as glaucoma, nerve damage, arterial disease, and kidney failure.
